Frequently Asked Questions

Chicanes slow down cyclists at strategic locations where increased vigilance is required, particularly at intersections, pedestrian crossings, or shared zones. They help reduce the risk of collisions and promote safe coexistence among different users.

A single-arm chicane creates a slight deviation in the path to encourage users to slow down. A two-arm chicane creates a more restrictive path that further reduces travel speed. The choice depends on the level of control desired, the width of the trail, and the type of users frequenting the site.

Chicanes are generally installed at the entrance to bike paths, near intersections, on multi-use trails, in parks, and in areas where cyclists and pedestrians share the same space. They serve to secure potential conflict points and better control traffic flow.

Yes. Kalitec baffles can be equipped with an opening and locking system to quickly clear the way when required. This feature facilitates access for emergency and maintenance vehicles while maintaining daily traffic control.

Chicanes are effective in moderating speeding, enhancing the safety of road users, particularly pedestrians and cyclists. They optimize traffic flow and transform high-risk areas into safer spaces.

Traffic calming chicanes can restrict access for emergency vehicles. This is why Kalitec's rotating chicane system is essential. It allows authorized vehicles to pass through, thereby securing public spaces.
